Abstract
Theoretical concepts and views of the economists of last two centuries devoted to the revealing of fundamental causes of the world economies cyclical nature are analyzed. Main emphasis is put on the attempts to connect the economic cycles with the solar ones stemmed from the pioneering works of W. Jevons published in the second half of 1870s. The contemporary forecasting models of interconnection between the solar and economic cycles are analyzed with main emphasis on the correlation of maximums of sunspots number and recessions of 1980, 1990-1991 and 2001.
