Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of basic stages of academic and diplomatic activities of Strobe Talbott – the Brookings Institution President and former Deputy Secretary of State, as well as his views on world development and Russian-American relations. In this context Talbott’s program of Russia’s «engagement» into the West community and its urgency for the Obama administration is also analyzed.
