- Abstract
- The article describes the role of F.D. Roosevelt in the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union. Objective factors which favored the strengthening of a positive attitude of Roosevelt to the Soviet Union in 1930 and his commitment to the military-political alliance with the Soviet Union in 1941-1945 are discussed. Ambivalent assessment by Roosevelt of Soviet political regime and Stalin is analyzed. It is proved that the death of Roosevelt in 1945 played an important role in deterioration of U.S.-Soviet relations and transition to the Cold War.
