- Abstract
- In this article is considered the research biography of Louise Overacker (1891-1982), who was one of the most known woman in American political science in 20th century and who made a major contribution to studying of primary elections, electoral campaign finance and Australian politics. The first two sections give the short review of women's history in American political science and try to make a gender analysis of disciplinary memory. The conclusion about American political science as a male discipline with relevant disciplinary memory is made. The next sections recover the main stages of Louise Overacker's life: early years and studying in Stanford, receiving doctor's degree at University of Chicago, teaching in Wellesley College and creation here the department of political science, activity in American Political Science Association and some others things. A special attention is paid to persons and institutional environment, what influenced on intellectual formation, career and scientific work of Louise Overacker.
