Abstract
The article deals with the paradox of power phenomenon in the U.S. foreign policy. How to explain that a powerful nation with a huge arsenal of foreign policy arguments and instruments fails to achieve tangible results, and gets a chain of disgraceful defeats instead (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan). These failures reflect quite a lot of internal and external issues of the nation development.
