Abstract
The European command of the United States has undergone major changes in the recent years. More recently, this regional command of the U.S. armed forces was considered in the Pentagon as a "rear", designed to provide logistic support to the Central command, which waged a "real" war, as well as the African command. However, the events in Ukraine in 2014-2018 forced the U.S. military and political leadership to take up measures to strengthen the European command, including the U.S. nuclear potential in Europe.
