Abstract
The author considers in a comparative context historical importance of the American revolution of 1776 and of the Russian revolution of 1917. Values and influence of two revolutions, stages of competition, it's outcome and the perspective of historical heritage are analyzed. Both revolutions were characteristic of messianism. The rivalry between the liberal and communist revolutions were made with varying success and ended with the end of the cold war in favor of liberalism. But the influence of socialism is not exhausted. It is kept in Latin America, in Asia, in Russia itself. The main reason is the increase in the process of liberal capitalist globalization of social contrasts and inequality in the distribution of wealth between the minority and the majority of population of the world.
