Abstract
Because the asymmetrical nature of the U.S.-Canada relationship Canada is far more focused on its relationship with the U.S. than the U.S. is with Canada. The article begins by asking whether official Washington could be said to have had a Canada policy after the World War II and what kind of judgments can be made about this policy - was it based on some fundamental principles? Furthermore: was Canada treated by Washington as a strong and independent ally or a peripheral dependency?
