Abstract
The article reviews both American and Soviet reforms at Kabul University (Afghanistan) during the period of the Cold War. Both superpowers established new departments, revised administrative management, introduced new disciplines, and rewrote textbooks according to their divergent ideologies and political culture. However, the Afghan professors and students restrained both americanization and sovietization of the Kabul University. Source materials of the study include newly declassified U.S. archival records as well as the related archives of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation.
