Abstract
After successfully completed the first stage of the occupation, the main task of which was the demilitarization of Japan, the United States decided to reconsider its policy towards Japan. The new stage of occupation was called the "reverse course." By the middle of 1948, the rapid disintegration of the world in two political systems and problems faced by Japan had intensified the U.S. intention to change the occupation policy vector toward restoring the Japanese economic potential and turning Japan into Washington's ally.
