- Abstract
- The United States actively pursue a policy of maintaining its influence in the CIS region through strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the countries of the region in the context of security and economic development. This happens in conjunction with the promotion of their own positions and interests of America. The main mechanisms for the implementation of U.S. policy in the CIS countries are NATO and energy projects aimed at achieving long-term goals of the countries of the West. Despite the presence of Russia's major foreign policy resources, the US does not want to see her as a partner in resolving a number of existing regional problems of the post-Soviet space. US seeks to pursue its own policy, establishing bilateral partnership relations primarily with those States whose leaders conduct a balanced foreign policy, and seek, on the one hand, to develop good neighborly relations with Russia, and with another - looking for the maximum rapprochement with the West.
