Abstract
The article analyzes the state of research of the USA history in Post-Soviet Russia. The best results were achieved in the study of the history of Russian-American relations, the history of American parties and American democracy. Serious deficiencies remain in the study of economic and social history. The author suggests ways to address the shortcomings and further development of the USA history studies. In study of history of foreign relations of XVIII - early XX centuries more attention must be paid to real historical weight of Russian-American relations in the overall context and scope of the foreign policy of both Russia and the United States. This is impossible without research by Russian historians of foreign relations of the United States with other European powers. Shortcomings in the study of social history, typical for Soviet historiography, were not overcome. Not proportionally large number of studies in the social history was dedicated to the working class and the labor movement. There is the need in a more complete and comprehensive study of other objects of social history: diverse racial-ethnic, religious, age, gender and other social groups.
