- Abstract
- The authors examine the situation on the art-market, noting that at present the market turned into a massive industry producing and promoting contemporary art objects. Their value is determined solely by commercial factors, which in terms of aesthetics and craftsmanship often have no relations to the quality of the works presented. As a result, the art market is flooded with all kinds of readymades, collages, objects in the style of pop art and other imitations of fine art. This situation is largely connected with the crisis of modern art history, which is not able to offer scientifi c criteria for identifying the essential features of art and artistic creativity. The science is removed by marketing and logistics. However, previous history of artistic practice, serves as the basis for determining the nature of art and its philosophy, gives us hope that the science of art still be able to determine, at least in general terms, the boundaries of art with respect to the realities of our time.
