- Abstract
Article is dedicated to research of the latest tendencies in lobbying development in Canada. It shows how political transformations, including changing role of the parliament, have brought more pluralism to policy making and gave interest groups more opportunities for organized pressure. Main forms of influence among Canadian interest groups were analyzed: direct contacts with government officials and political representatives, indirect contacts through professional lobbyists, involvement into electoral campaigns and creation of expert opinions. Author demonstrates that despite lobbying regulation interest groups preserve informal communication with decision makers using both legal loopholes and the very nature of Canadian federalism. Analysis also showed that Canadian interest groups successfully integrated to policy making not only on national, but also on international level, efficiently advocating interests of separate groups and national economic and trade priorities.
