Abstract
Concepts "need for language" and "linguistic identity" is revealed, communication between linguistic, ethnic and sociocultural identity is shown. The analysis of need for language and linguistic identity role in the course of socialization of the minor and title nations in multicultural space is given. Results of empirical research of the attitude to language and culture of the youth from Moscow, Komi Republic and ethnic group of "the Russian Germans" are given. It is proved that the specific social situation has led to change of the language's status and the attitude towards it. At the same time the language which even isn't priority emotionally remains a phenomenon of an ethnic identity. In the multinational cities distinctions between ethnic and sociocultural identity are small, at the same time the culture as a positive component of sociocultural identity dominates in the big city, but it's influence on ethnic identity has ambivalent character.
