- Abstract
- On the basis of specific sociological research among the youth and adult population of Dagestan, the respondents ' ideas and opinions about the essence of religious and political extremism and terrorism, the reasons for its spread in the North Caucasus, and the goals and intentions of religious and political extremists are clarified. The main reasons for the spread of extremism in this region are the crisis of socio-economic and moral relations, the impoverishment of the population in the market, the criminalization of all aspects of life, the ethno-clan nature of corruption in power relations, and the decline in the authority of the traditional clergy.
