Abstract
The article is written basing on the card index of Pochinki district of Nizhny Novgorod region that contains more than 3000 phraseological units,the collection and study of which has been carried out since 1962. The process of phrase building is based on variable combinations of words that deal with speech spheres of production and spiritual life of our ancestors, namely, various games, rites, superstitions, works of folklore, ancient divination, everyday observations, cosmological views of the ancient Slavs, legal relationships etc.
