Abstract
This article is an investigation about the process of a century and a half of development of photography and photojournalism in Ecuador. The first photographs in Ecuador were landscapes and portraits, later on, photography became a mean for fixing the cultural events, having impact on media. This article is an example of the tradition, culture and social inequality of ecuadorian people. The analysis of published photographs takes place in the context of investigating the creative way of national artists and photojournalists.
