- Abstract
- After the Second World War the U.S. utilized various means and methods to guarantee American strategic interests in Asia-Pacific Region. Among them are creation of bilateral military-political alliances, and regional military-political formations, participation in military conflicts. After the cold war the U.S. continued to make an accent on strengthening bilateral alliances. At the same time Washington gradually started to pay growing attention to using regional multilateral agreements and structures – ASEAN, ARF, meetings of the ASEAN plus ministers of defense, East-Asia summits – in its interests.
