Аннотация
Анализируется реакция политического руководства США на падение метеорита в Челябинской области 15 февраля 2013 г. В американских политических кругах это событие вызвало повышенный интерес и озабоченность, обусловленную вероятностью повторения подобного рода события и над территорией США. В Конгрессе США в марте–апреле 2013 г. прошли слушания, где было признано, что НАСА уделяет недостаточное внимание поиску и обнаружению в ближнем космосе небесных тел диаметром до нескольких десятков метров. По итогам слушаний администрация Обамы внесла коррективы в американскую космическую программу, придав приоритет полёту на астероид в 2020-х годах как главно му направлени ю развития космонавтики после завершения программы пилотируемых полётов на МКС.
