Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the factors of rapid growth of the U.S. 2012 and 2016 presidential campaigns' costs. The main factor is the 2010 verdict of the US Supreme Court, which allowed the formation of superPACS with unlimited contributions from corporations and trade unions and their spending. The main conclusion is that now the oligarсhic model of presidential elections was formed under which Democratic and Republican parties’ main financial sponsors select candidates and president and voters on Election Day «approve» their choice.
