Abstract
Changes of political regimes like Arabic spring or events that have been taking place in the former Soviet republics raise issues concerning the concepts of international relations and international law. Among them - the democratic peace theory main statement of which lies in pacific character of democratic regimes. This theory suggests that promotion of democracy leads to bolstering of international security system. This article describes the democratic peace theory, its origins, and conditions when it was applied with respect to the U.S. policy in the Greater Middle East.
