- Abstract
- This article focuses on gender agenda in Canada's foreign policy under J. Trudeau, who calls himself “feminist". The author looks at the gender dimension in the Defence paper “Strong, Secure, Engaged", in Canada's peacekeeping operations, in “Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy" and in NAFTA negotiating process. Both domestic and foreign policy of Trudeau government expose creative approaches, innovative decisions and impressive findings. Canadian ideas and suggestions help to find solutions to some complicated and sensitive problems relating to gender equality and women's empowerment. However, a gap between rhetoric and practice is evident. Ottawa not always supports its realistic initiatives with practical contributions and adequate funding.
