- Abstract
The author is trying to find out and analyze the most important trends in modern American- Austrian relations. The description of these relations as ‘unusual’ should be explained, to his mind, for two reasons: by the intrusive unwillingness of Austrian politicians to only bilaterally develop contacts with the American side, and by refraining from any serious work on the coming of new, non-bilateral relationships with new content. The practical significance of the article demonstrates the importance of maintaining numerous contacts between the United States and Europe, not only on the present basis and in the present state, but also to keep in mind the possibility of future variants after U.S. President D. Trump. It is important not to forget that substantial crises between the U.S. and Europe and between the U.S. and Austria had not been overcome before the US election and the oath of D. Trump. The author emphasizes that it would be less desirable for Austria to relinquish the role of mediator. The multilateralism would more vulnerable. The article has a discussion character.
